Hello fellow distillers and potential ex-reddit users. This is the new space on Lemmy for all things distilling!
Hopefully we can grow the community and learn this new Lemmy thing together.
The space is looking pretty bare, but with some help, it’ll be home in no time. Here’s a pick of my setup to make it look less bare. It’s a reflux still from AliExpress sitting on top of a grainfather. The needle valves that it came with are rubbish and need replacing, as I can’t close the reflux condenser all the way anymore. Regardless of its flaws I still love it and it can produce some tasty (tasteless) vodka.
Cheers! I’m also an r/firewater ex-pat (at least, at this rate!).
Since nobody else is here yet… got a good clean bourbon recipe that portions well? Every bourbon recipe I’ve found/tried so far is all-over-the-place trying to read compared to any other cooking recipe I know.
I’ve got 2 5gal buckets and an 8gal bucket, and I’d like to fill all 3 with mash. I’ve got a digiboil with the mash kit that I plan to use to make it (giving me about 8gal of room if I really push it). I don’t mind doing 3 batches of mash, but other than “lots of corn and a bit of 6-row” I how much water and what temps to use is inconsistent.
Also, I’d rather stay away from splarging, but Bourbon should be on-grain anyway. I think.
Already got the howtomoonshine and clawhammer recipes and they seem a little hectic and inconsistent to me.
