As in the title, is lemmy.world like r/all? I’m just trying to get a handle on how this decentralized server angle works, and sorting out how to post beyond people on the lemmy.ca server. Can anyone explain it like I’m a moron, because I am.

Imagine that instead of one website, Reddit was actually 15 different websites, each of which had their own different subreddits. Now imagine that /r/all actually pulled from the subreddits of all of those 15 different “Reddits” at the same time instead of just one single website. That’s what Lemmy does.
lemmy.ca and lemmy.world and lemmy.ml are all different “instances” of Lemmy, different “Reddits”, all of which are completely independent, and all of which have their own “subreddits” (communities), but on the “All” tab you’re able to see subreddits from all of these independent instances together.
There is no “main” Lemmy site, and this is by design. All there are are a bunch of independent websites that have agreed to show their subreddits to each other.
For example, you’re a lemmy.ca user, and I’m a lemmy.ml user, but I was able to see your post on “All”, and I’m even able to comment on it as well where you can see it.
