Couldn’t have picked a better time to come up with an outrageously greedy change to an existing service huh

We make fun of him for every decision he makes with Birdsite but he doesn’t stop. Does that means he’s winning? (serious question)

He’s one of the world’s richest people, ridiculously powerful, controls absurd amounts of high tech real capital assets, and has thousands of followers

      He’s always been winning doomer

Winning is silly in this context, but Twitter is not dead or dying anytime soon, I no longer believe this for some time now. It will eventualy die, I recommend reading about “enshittification” starting here The ‘Enshittification’ of TikTok it is an amazing article realy and yes the length is worth it.

IMO the internet is now the same like 3-4 websites and to break this would require a convenient alternative that people can jump to. That Meta clone could have been it but it was “enshittified” by default lol.

Nobody goes from Twitter to Reddit or from there to Facebook etc because these platforms are so old the only new users are people “new” to the market e.g the global south getting first access to internet/social media or literal teenagers.

The point then is IMO Twitter wont die easily because people simply wont move away because there is no alternative.

So TL;DR he is not winning lol but Twitter is not dying anytime soon either despite what we all believed at first.

I think Twitter will die on financial terms, if nothing else. They were already mostly making a loss before taking on a loan with huge repayments (and I mean huge). Moves like this aren’t just performative, Twitter is bleeding huge amounts of money, and needs to up its revenue enormously, quickly.
