For me it was Hebrew and it’s cool writing system, then ithkuil and how alien it seems. It lead me down a deep rabbithole to where i now make writing systems.

Japanese : Their writing system is pretty cool. Everything is just a あ, i い, u う, e え, o お syllables with some variant. So ‘kah’ can sound like ‘gah’ by just adding two little tic marks as a modifier か -> が. Of course it’s more complicated than that due to kanji, but it was easy (and fun) to learn and remember the hiragana and katakana charts when I was first learning the language.
*Edited to add- I am interested in learning Korean but some of the characters resemble Japanese characters so I get tripped up a lot. I also don’t allot enough time as I should to make meaningful progress lately. Tsk tsk.
