It’s approximately 1” x 1.5” (2cm x 3cm). It came with…:
Tap for spoiler
a bag of macadamia nuts still in their shell. The shells were pre-cracked and the tapered point is used to slip in the crack and twisted to open the the shell the rest of the way
…but I don’t believe it was purpose built for that use and leaves the little hook with the bent tab unexplained and unused.
Lemmy - What is this thing?
Looks like a damaged key for opening macadamia nuts. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/J7aIWDc1f2w
UPD: Or maybe the bent notch has some use too :)
It is absolutely made for macadamia nuts.
I agree that the notch is purposeful. I can only assume that it’s just a means of getting leverage for stubborn shells.
A lot of these have those holes too. I’m assuming people hang them up?
I take it you didn’t read my description 😆
Oopsie! Why hide it behind a spoiler tho? 😅
Never seen this addition to the key before, it’s tempting to assume it’s just broken chain-hole, but on a closer look it’s obviously not…
Probably not very effective but because I don’t think it was purposely designed for that and I felt like saying that was kind of leading? I dunno. When you make me explain it it seems dumb 😂
It was hard to get a good photo, but you’re right; the little tab of the would be broken keyhole is intentional tapered like the main point on the tool is.
I thought maybe it was supposed to double as a bottle opener but could not figure out a way to use it as such. The main point is reasonably helpful at opening a soda can tab if that’s something you need help with.
pop-top opener?
