“It revolves around safety, security, and, I think, common sense. It protects our children and grandchildren in private spaces where they are most vulnerable,” said Republican Ohio state Sen. Jerry Cirino, the bill’s sponsor.

If an assailant wants to sexually assault or take hidden photos/video of a juvenile, they will not be deterred by laws. Everyone in school knows who the trans kids are so it would be just as hard for them to sneak into “the wrong bathroom” as it would be for anyone else.

The only thing laws like this ensure is the increased potential of violence against trans kids in school. It is far more likely for a transfem teen to be sexually assaulted by a pack of homophobic bullies in the boys bathroom than it is for a transfem teen to sexually assault a girl in the girls bathroom. This shit is just common fucking sense.

PS: Fuck JK Rowling. Yeah she has nothing to do with this story but it is always a good time to remember what a fucking piece of shit she is.

We don’t even have to exercise common sense. It doesn’t seem anyone can even agree on what common sense even means anymore.

What we do have are statistics! Something that politicians like this are very intentionally ignoring or twisting.
