I never understood the hype till i saw an exhibit of his smaller works on paper. His larger canvases dont hit as hard as his smaller works. Obsessed with trying to capture the emotions his works give me and I’ve accomplished it in a couple of my paintings that bring me to tears when i look at them long enough just like real Rothko’s. Pictures never do this style of painting justice.
