An interesting press release, but note that the date on it is 12 January 2023, two years old.

Is that a jackrabbit?
Wait, is this the creator and star of Abbott Elementary? I’ve seen this before but never noticed who the poster is
I believe the main purpose of releasing them is to generate publicity for their company that they might not be able to get otherwise in more mainstream media. Much like how the legal brothels in Nevada put out press releases about how they’re offering free services to first responders who helped on a recent disaster or something like that. It gets people talking about them and spreads awareness about their offerings.
I remember a decade ago my boss was ecstatic to see a petabyte that fit in a single rack at NAB, on spinning disks instead of tape no less. Crazy to think that in another decade a petabyte will fit in 3RU or maybe even smaller.
They say they’re going to propose some activity pub extensions to handle this. It seems to me like they should try to make this function in a way that works with how Lemmy handles cross-posts.
So, will they be calling him Jonás now?
(That’s Jonah in Spanish)
Did that even exist in 2013?
Interesting little tidbit from the article, the model is a lesbian, so even less interested in obese older men than the average young heterosexual woman would be. Seems she wasn’t actually too concerned by the article since she’s a professional, but did find the usage amusing because it came from a set where she was modeling being sick (like having a cold).
As a solid outsider, this whole Rust thing seems like it keeps simmering under the surface in a way that could one day boil over and seriously damage the entire Linux project.
I don’t have a machine capable of running Asahi today, but I also don’t feel like I need it now. Reading this and reading marcan’s resignation makes me feel like I should find some way to chip in to Asahi now so that whenever Apple eventually stops supporting my hardware, Asahi will hopefully still be there and ready to keep the hardware going. I figure I probably have about 6 years of Apple support, but I’m also suspecting Apple might support the ARM hardware longer than they ever did Intel or PowerPC, so I might have even more time.
He has a junk shelf instead of a junk drawer
Sierra Space is positioning the VR35K-A for the launch market but also for in-space propulsion use, including spacecraft orbital maneuvering and lander descent systems. The company’s Dream Chaser spaceplane, designed to deliver cargo to the International Space Station and other destinations in low Earth orbit, uses Vortex-based reaction control system thrusters.
I guess it’s for anyone who wants a 35,000 lbf vacuum engine?
I’ve only seen that logo at gas stations and assumed it was a fleet fuel card
I wonder if this is to try to more directly counter Shopify?
I’m impressed at your willingness to try; almost no one does. I hope you like it!
That’s where we always lose people. It’s actually good! It works!
My wife used to own a bakery and always said you’re not actually supposed to eat the fondant. It is “edible” but she recommended treating it like a decorative wrapping paper.
Raw flour is not recommended for direct consumption because it can actually carry foodborne illnesses. I suppose you could “cook” it in the oven with no other ingredients to have a similar experience but killing any potential pathogens.
I get a little suspicious of the accuracy of a story from a TV station in Cincinnati, Ohio, whose source is a story from a New Zealand newspaper, about something that happened to a Canadian tourist in the Turks and Caicos islands in the Caribbean. Truly a globe spanning story.
EDIT: Going to the New Zealand Herald, their story just seems to be a copy of the story in the Daily Telegraph of London, England, written by one of their U.S. correspondents. That is at least a British territory, so it sort of works. Information seems largely the same as in the Turks and Caicos Weekly, so maybe the story is accurate.
