Despite the official name being “Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy” it is not Jedi Knight I. It is actually a sequel to Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. It came out only a year after JO and was announced in April. At first I thought it was an April Fool’s joke because the screenshots looked like something that could easily be made with the mod tools at the time.

It wasn’t called Jedi Knight III because you play a different character.

Anyways, the real Jedi Knight I was “Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II”. An open source implementation is available at https://github.com/shinyquagsire23/OpenJKDF2

And to round it off, the open source implementation of Dark Forces is available at https://theforceengine.github.io/. I think it even supports the remaster.

Interesting. I feel like this game could use a remake more than a remaster. While I kinda liked the story the game itself was kind of bland and depressing with its empty environments. And you kind of always had to go through one empty room to another almost empty room that contained one item you needed.

I thought it was a reference to “Luigi winning Mario Party by doing absolutely nothing” videos where Luigi is shown just standing around doing nothing while all the other players beat each other up until only Luigi is left.

That game is so awesome! I started watching it, because I thought I couldn’t handle the parrying. Then I pirated it. Saw how awesome it was on story mode (which is there because Maelle’s voice actress requested it). Then I stopped watching it when the story picked up speed. And then I bought it.

I’m almost done, i think. But I want to see most of the side content. And just now I encountered an optional boss I don’t think I will be able to beat. But maybe I can find some good Pictos in other areas to make it viable.
