Smartpens like the Echo 2 can be very helpful for students with learning disabilities. The pen uses special paper that syncs your notes with the lecture. So when a student taps the pen to a specific bullet point the audio of what the professor was saying at that exact moment is played. This makes studying and note-taking easier. Students do not need to write everything down because the pen is always recording. They just need to jot the key info down and can rely on the audio recording for the rest.
This is a demo video I made a while back on how to use the original Echo Smartpen.
I wish I had had something like that in school
And it only works on their proprietary paper. Yay, capitalism!
You can print your own paper if you have an inkjet printer. I’m not sure how well it works. Most users buy their journals. The journals make it easier to store your notes and you can group them by subject.
That’s neat! Fully expected this to be another Logitech Io pen.
I got a smart pen through a disability program in college. It was very helpful because I have bad hand joints. I had an Echo and then a different one when the Echo broke. Can’t remember what the second one was, but it connected to my phone and I could view the notes and listen to the audio through an app. 10/10 would recommend
