    Hypothetically speaking, just as a thought experiment:

    If the internet was to be reinvented today, with all knowledge that we already have, what could we do against uncontrolled bot activity? In other words, how much does this bot activity exploit flaws of the current internet, versus flaws intrinsic to online communication?

      Nothing. The issue is that people are super gullible and don’t think critical. They have their bubble and stay inside of it, swallowing whatever is in line with it. This means that there are a bunch of incentives to leverage this to whatever advantage.

        I agree with you that people are gullible and lack critical thinking. But I’m wondering if the environment of the internet could be “rigged” (in a good way) against this. Perhaps making cross-comparing info easier? A bit like the original idea behind HTML.
