As the title states: I have made a few improvements and wanted to share!
-
Red LED strip for the case on the bottom
-
A new Crucial 1TB SSD for my NAS
-
Cut a piece of plywood to act as a tabletop for the rack. I plant on applying some clear lacquer to protect the wood and make it look a little nicer
-
Bought a new server! (IBM System X3550 M4 - 2x Xeon E5-2640 (8C 16T each) - 32GB of memory)
-
Found a cheap little monitor on Kijiji and threw it on the rack to make imaging easier. (For other servers and devices that don’t have a management module.)
I found a decently priced 32GB (2x16) memory kit for the X3550 that I ordered. Still on the hunt for more memory and caddies. Also figuring out a purpose for the Asustor NAS. Open to suggestions if anyone has any. As always please give suggestions if you feel like it! Thank you for reading :)
P.S: I think it’s time for a proper network diagram next!
Congrats! It looks neat.
what rack model is this
Where did you get the tabletop?
Haven’t seen much IBM servers used. And nice setup too.
What the fuck is a boot disk
