Think about it, why would you want a bed? Just put the mattress on the floor!

Given, there are a couple of cases where you’d want an actual bed, but those cases are very limited, and an average person should absolutely not buy a bed thus supporting the biggest scam in the history of humanity!

thanks for coming to my ted talk

Just because it might be that some people don’t know: Putting the mattress on a flat surface means that moisture can only evaporate on the upper side. The ventilation beneath the mattress is a good thing to not have the mattress too moist for too long. A slatted bed (if that is the correct term in English) on some bricks is enough. It just needs some elevation, that’s all.

interesting point, but why would a mattress collect excessive amounts of moisture compared to other objects in the room?

Because you sleep on it. Everyone is loosing sweat each night, up to one liter as far as I know. Most of that sinks into the mattress.

We call them slatted beds in English too! Or at least the things the bed sits on are called slats. Generally used with memory foam mattresses here in America.

I like to think that keeping my mattress off the floor cuts down on the number of bugs I end up swallowing in my sleep, so there’s always that.

there’s always the eight spiders, you can’t avoid that, so you might as well just ignore it

Isn’t the eight spiders trivia false?

No, it’s very true. Everyone swallows 8 spiders in their sleep. If you die tomorrow and you haven’t swallowed any spiders yet, eight spiders will crawl into your mouth tonight

I mean, sure we have the science on spiders, but how many roaches?

All in all, I’d like to minimize.

You want to be as far away as possible from one particular bug: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/db/Scolopendra_cingulata_-_D7-08-2291.JPG

The higher up you sleep, the more important you are. :crown: :wine glass: :crown:

If I lived by myself, I would 100% sleep on a mattress on the floor again. Bed frames are like the engagement rings of sleeping, no one can explain why they’re necessary (except for the 8 spiders thing, but you get used to their taste after a while.)

It’s easier to get up from a bed with bed frame than from a mattress on the floor. Also, easier to make the bed (specially if you have back or knee problems). I’m all for mattresses on the floor, but it’s not that we ended up using bed frames because of some conspiracy really. And like others said: humidity/sweat plays a role. And if by some accident your room gets water in, your bed won’t be completely soaked.
