"We are currently seeing a lot of misinformation regarding our VM-related countermeasures in several games. We understand that some players might want to play the game in a VM, e.g. if they are using Linux, but we hope for your understanding that we can't support such untrusted environments going forward as they present an unsolvable security risk, proven by the fact that e.g. in EFT over 90% of recently active VM users were found to be abusing their VMs to cheat, forcing us to take this step inevitably. We want to emphasize that we do not ban anyone for simply running the game in a VM, but as always we will ban any users who actively try to bypass our measures. Normal users will only receive a kick (like @OrdinaryGamers). "

In my personal opinion, this is absurd, it’s bad enough if someone wants to play certian games, they have to download such an intrusive anti-cheat otherwise simply don’t play it. Secondly, for them to call VM a security risk makes absolutely zero sense to me? Their anti-cheat is the real security risk. All these anti-cheats do is harm tons of innocent players, create more issues, for a small trade off of bans. This is really frustrating and I think more people need to speak out against these intrusive anti-cheats.

“But i want to play games…” “No”.

It’s for the protection of our users anon… trust us, we’re just some random company from China, installing proprietary software (anti-cheat) that actively scans your computer to protect you from those darn cheaters. Nothing to worry about, unless you have something to hide? Of course you don’t though, so let us just have that Ring 0 and protect you from those darn cheaters.
