Great article featuring perspectives from Pollo Del Mar, Anthony Bowens, Sonny Kiss, Nyla Rose, and Kidd Bandit. It really is shameful how our country is persecuting LGBTQ folks. It’s getting really scary out there.

I don’t really go to many shows (like… never so far) since I get really bad anxiety in crowds but it warms my heart knowing just how much better both the wrestling community and the wrestlers themselves are today compared to the 90s and before. It’s not perfect by any means but it’s far better than it used to be especially being trans and queer myself. It’s nice to have both people who look like me in something I like but also a community where I don’t have to worry about anything bad happening to me or being bombarded with negative thoughts (goddess knows that happens enough in the news these days when it comes to queer rights) :/

The fact that pro wrestling has come so far from where it was just a decade ago is good news. Obviously, there is still a lot of progress to be made, but a lot of toxic elements of the industry are being challenged. The old guard is dying off or joining the fight. Billy Gunn went from a bad gay joke to being Daddy Ass, surrogate father of Bowens. They mention Steiner, but Poppa Pump hasn’t been anything but a shitty meme for 20 years. Here’s hoping that the bigots all over either fade into obscurity or look in the mirror and realize they’re the problem, not queer folks.
