£60 before adding all the DLC 😵‍💫

In fairness, it’s always been one of those games that goes on sale a lot and is priced low when it does. Patience is a virtue.

Cant wait to try this in 6 years when the full game is released for a reasonable price!

6 was free on epic games a few years back and it was recently on sale on steam for just a few dollars.

I picked it up on steam for the Linux version and it was pretty addicting. I never get games dlc and I don’t think I’m good enough at the base game to take advantage of the different things the dlc adds.

If you want to get good at civ games, you can check Marbozir on youtube. The guy is a genius at it and you quickly pick up the way in which you should think about the strategy and resources. And he’s very entertaining to boot.

This would be nice to hear if Linux versions of Civ games weren’t always complete garbage

If it’s anything like 6, yes, but the Linux version won’t get quick updates so effectively no, since players have to be on the same update.

There’s no reason the Proton version won’t work, though, I suppose.

Here’s hoping the Linux native version fares better this time around…

Good to hear thanks. And proton has worked well for 6? (Steamdeck i assume is using proton not native linux?). We still play V, when they broke mac/windows crossplay I had to install bootcamp to continue playing with my friends. But the family iMac I did that on definitely won’t run 7, so was looking into building a linux tower I could use instead and would strongly prefer not to deal with windows.

Yes, the VI Windows version via Proton is superiour to the native linux build. Steam Deck likely defaults to the native version, but that can be overridden with 4 clicks.
