Summary

Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of Donald Trump, has withdrawn her name from consideration for Florida’s Senate seat, previously held by Marco Rubio.

Rubio, nominated for secretary of state, will have his replacement chosen by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

A prominent surrogate during Donald Trump’s campaign, Lara’s withdrawal follows speculation about her continued political ambitions.

That would make a great article for The Onion. A whole bunch of things she announces she’s turned down that she is completely unqualified for.

Senator is a tough job. She can probably do better in something else, like a Cabinet post.

You’re right, she probably could grift better in something else like a cabinet post. Senators don’t get nearly the same opportunities for corruption.

Also, the Cabinet posts come with a built-in ‘deep state’ of professionals who do most of the actual work.

She was RNC chair briefly, right? I bet she couldn’t withstand any scrutiny as to where the money was spent. Same with the DNC. Follow the money.
