A network of accounts on X using stolen and possibly AI-generated images coordinated to engage with accounts supportive of Israel

This discovery follows previous research by the DFRLab and other investigators which exposed a similar network of inauthentic pro-Israel accounts which became active on Facebook, Instagram, and X after the beginning of the war in Gaza.

Makes sense, although sadly for real people in person, the elder you look the more likely they are to be pro-Israel. If I’m lucky, the person I’m interacting with recognizes that Hamas are not the people of Palestine, and even then it’s a dicey conversation.

This has been my experience in Oregon at an elder care facility, at least.

I assume everything is bots, so I only check out streamers, youtubers, and artists on Twitter. It was bad before the Musk takeover but now it’s borderline unusable lol

I worry the day Lemmy becomes inundated by Russian bots and…, oh hey Hexbear and ml, what are you doing here? Promoting genocide again?

      Sorry I got distracted.

Isn’t it common knowledge that there is an Iranian state-sposored social media campaign doing the exact same thing for the other side?

Social Media is the best thing that has ever happened for Iran, Russia, & China in terms of expanding the reach of propaganda.
