    Er, you know the history of that railway, right?

    And that eventually, with voter’s agreement, it was decided that instead of finally finishing the railway, everyone would be OK with replacing it with the inland highway?

    What I’m annoyed with is that the Malahat is STILL a choke point and the highway effectively stops at Campbell River.

    For those who don’t know, an always running and maintained railway along the entire island was a condition of the colony of Vancouver Island becoming part of British Columbia, and the railway was never completed.
