      80s?

Southern Washington and the majority of Oregon were hot spots for white supremacist “utopia” migration dating back to before the Civil Rights movement.

As a white dude, it’s fucking scary visiting some of those small towns in both states. My wife will even suggest not going to areas due research she’s done to verify that were not stepping into a social trap.

Bruh there’s like weirdo secret fighting/fitness/combat groups specifically for right wing white folks popping up where I live and it’s so bizarre. Literally none of them are run by anyone who’s fighting fit and they’re basically a glorified social club for people who just want to be crazy bigoted while feeling like they’re part of some master plan.

You guys do realize that the left moved farther left, and the right is just lagging behind. That’s about it.

We’re going to keep demanding equal rights for everyone despite your fascist bullshit.

Why don’t you light a tiki torch about it?

Why do you assume I’m talking about myself?

We’re not all as self-obsessed as conservatives. You just can’t help but tell on yourself, huh?

Why don’t you storm the capitol about it?

How about not getting shot by police while eating ice cream on the couch?

Why don’t you bomb a federal building about it?

You have that right. Just because cops are usually shit heads doesn’t mean that you don’t have rights.

Jesus fucking Christ talking to reactionaries is exhausting. Try to pay attention.

Why don’t you hold a Klan rally about it?

How is equal rights relevant in say, a discussion about abortion between a man and a woman?

Well, the equal in a man would be a legal/financial abortion, where the man forfeits all parental rights, and doesn’t have any of the responsibilities.

You’re right, men have less rights than women in many states, since men don’t have reproductive rights.

That’s not at all what I’m saying and it’s creepy as fuck that you’re putting words in my mouth so it seems someone here agrees with your weirdo take. There’s no equivalent of an abortion for a man and insisting that there’s such thing as a “legal/financial” abortion is just straight delusional. Good lord…

We can’t realize because it is objectively untrue. Like, the right just keeps moving right and has been doing so for many decades. They’re not just lagging behind but actively doing as much as they can to obstruct progress and even undoing as much of it as they possibly can. It’s pushed even the very idea of “the left” towards the middle so when you get someone even slightly left who hasn’t changed their views at all speaking up people think they’re “moving further left”.

Again, there’s nothing there to realize because you comment is just completely and easily fact-checked to be wrong.

I wish the left was as far left as it used to be. Roosevelt or even LBJ would be a welcome shift from the corporate Democratic party that Clinton thought he needed to counter Reaganism.

Cool! So tell me: who in the American “left” are advocating for the abolishment of private property and armed uprisings against the ownership class? You know, the things a real leftist would advocate for?

That’s economic left. There’s social left too, which is what I was referring to. Unfortunately, the single axis left-right isn’t very descriptive.

The movement left that you’re referring to, if whining about the social left, is that we’re finally able to acknowledge large groups of people that were oppressed for fucking ages. And when I say able I’m breezing last the fact that people still find themselves in dangerous situations all the time. Yes, things get more complex as each step forward reveals new layers but accepting trans people and realizing that you need to force business owners to not be hugely racist is not “moving left” it’s “being a decent fucking human being”.

Business owners haven’t been able to racially discriminate for ages. That’s not even part of the discussion anymore.

And yet it still happens all the time. It’s hard to prove so people get away with it. Are you really so naive as to think the problem was just magically fixed?

I literally had a boss look at the resume of a guy I went to school with and he put it aside because “I want to keep jobs in Canada” which made no fucking sense but here we are.

Let me know when the “left” tries to take away women’s bodily autonomy, significantly weakens unions, makes child marriage OK, makes child labor in dangerous conditions legal, or tries to overthrow the government. Last time I checked, only conservatives supported all of the above.
