Now not limiting things is a feature.

I’m worried this will make it harder for people to transition to mastodon as it’s more of a shock. It would help if someone made a mastodon frontend to mimic twitter (shitty UI, paywalled, occasionally insert low quality AI generated posts, ads, read limits) for a smoother transition /s

mstdn tweets being called toots is horrible, they need a new name IMO…

There has been a new name for ages, they’re called posts now, they’re only called that by people who have been around for a while and liked the weird name. Being “professional” is boring

It’s ok to be quirky but the word toots gives a cheap knock off vibe, and I’m saying this as a lover of the fediverse.

They aren’t called toots, other than by people who call them toots. I still call them toots for nostalgia sake and because I’m a sucker for whimsy

It’d be damn funny. Musk wanted to establish himself as this “cool/edgy tech genius who can meme”, Mastodon can obviously profit with it.

This has to be it. At first I thought it was foreshadowing of the meta meeting. Thank God it’s just a little humour!

I like the overhaul. It is a huge improvement, but I still think the 3rd party offerings are better in the user experience part for now.

I know it’s just for laughs here but i did have a question: would AI scraping not affect Fediverse websites just as much? Do the instance admins just ignore the issue or are they not affected as much because they’re still smaller?
