Looks like for now they’re just going to use their own forums for updates and such. Would be cool if they landed on Lemmy eventually like the Star Trek subreddit did.

Cool to hear! It’s a bit strange for them to officially be there anyway, when they definitely have the resources to simply run their own services.

Not weird at all. I had a question about Emby, posted on the sub, and was told to post on the forum. Had to spend time creating an account, be approved, and then find the correct subforum to ask my basic ass question. Not to mention I cannot delete my forum posts or account. Everything I posted is in the hands of the forum owner.

To this day I’ve received at least 1 email about my data being compromised in a breach. Fun.

The benefit of Reddit (and even more so with lemmy) is that one account can be a part of a ton of communities.

Lemmy is better in the fact that Mojang could technically setup their own instance at like lemmy.minecraft.net and we could join and be a part of it with our current Lemmy accounts. Amazing!

Although sometimes it seems like they have their heads up their own asses with how some stuff is managed, it really shows that the devs care about the community they’ve built up

It’s a voxel engine. It’s not anything on it’s own, but it’s made to be extended with games and mods to become you want it to be.

It’s also not a “clone” of Minecraft, it doesn’t try to be Minecraft. Well, one of the games people made for it does but the base game itself isn’t.

It’s been around for a long time, since around 2010.
