Off topic, but does this show get good? I love her standup, but after watching 2 or 3 episodes of this show I found it painfully unfunny, and not at all like the late-night show that it was billed as.

I knew that she was a comedian but hadn’t seen any of her standup so I didn’t really have any attachment to her as a reason to want to watch the show. But I like it. It’s definitely getting better, but it also definitely depends on the chemistry of the guests. I remember the one with Gillian Jacobs (obligatory “oh, Britta’s in this?”) was particularly good. Their YouTube channel puts up a playlist of most (all?) of the previous night’s show, and it has become a regular watch while I’m doing emails etc in the morning.

The episode with Drew Carey, Weird Al and Thomas Lennon was definitely one of the highlights. I enjoy the show, but as you said, it really depends on the guests.

What is the name of the show for all of us non Brits (?)?

Edit: NM it’s called After Midnight, and apparently it’s on CBS.

for all of us non Brits

It’s funny you should say that. It’s American, as you’ve learnt. I’m neither American nor British, but to me the show does actually seem more similar to a format of show that’s very popular in Britain, but not so common in America. The panel show. Think QI, 8 Out of 10 Cats, or Would I Lie To You. Something that looks like a game show, but where the main purpose is really improv comedy and banter, more than actually winning the game.

The problem is for me, the episodes I’ve seen of After Midnight have just been much, much less funny than the typical WILTY or Cats does Countdown (and I don’t even particularly like Catsdown).

It’s just highly dependent on who is on the panel that night. The Weird Al, Drew Carey, and Thomas Lennon episode was hilarious.

It eventually hit its stride, but it’s still kinda hit-or-miss.

      I like it.

I actually watch it just about everyday. I don’t have or use TikTok so it keeps me aware of weird ass trends or viral things.

It’s moderately funny most days, though sometimes you just get 3 panelists that lack any chemistry or certain games fall flat.

I used to watch @Midnight so I was hesitant of this return, but I think I like this iteration more.
