Well, the tomato sauce is a guarantee, since tomatoes are a New World plant.
This doesn’t surprise me a single bit, since the Aeneid (published in 19 BCE) already mentions something rather similar: thin bread topped with meats (as per Jupiter’s will) and fruits (as per Ceres’)*. And given that the Romans ate cheese a fair bit, I bet that at least some pizze bianche (no tomato sauce) already popped up back then.
