Wagner Group has trekked from Rostov, all the way to Voronezh, and taken control of the military facilities there.
For context, Voronezh is halfway between Rostov and Moscow, and this was accomplished in under a day.
Update: Apparently Wagner is also pushing towards Krasnodar and Volgograd with little to no resistance, both equally major cities. This is just the current word of mouth though, no major news outlets or insiders to confirm.
For people like me who need visual aids.
At least 3 killed as Russian An-24 crashed (was shot down) near Kantemirovka of Voronezh region (half way to Moscow)
There’s a massive road block on the direct highway M-4 into Moscow. It’s getting wild!
This really turned into an F5-fest really fast!
Well, if he wasn’t shitting his pants before, Putin sure is now.
He probably fills briefcases full of bricks.
He’s about to lose his 3 day no 💩 challenge.
This would be huge, but also very worrying. Russia can fuck out of Ukraine, but it’s not gonna get anymore stable or peaceful when Prigozin of all people takes over the government
Let’s hope they just cripple each other and don’t get full grasp on the situation 🤞
Just cripple?
He won’t. Even if he manages to depose Putin, he’s far from being in control of Russia. There will be a power struggle that might devolve into full blown civil war. Which is worrying in its own right, of course.
Idk much about Wagner group, but I thought they were hired mercenaries? Why would a mercenary leader want to take over government? If anything I’d think they’d install their own puppets for government - which is probably just as bad if not worse.
Russia has been a weird wealth making machine since ussr fell. This guy wants to rob the Russian people too while pretending he’s running a government.
They were just mercenaries on paper to do the Kremlin’s dirty work while giving “plausible” deniability. This would be akin the the Roman Generals of old who reasonably could gather their troops to overthrow whomever was in power.
Russia DID want to be the third Rome afterall.
