The developer behind “Sync For Reddit” on Android has announced that they are porting the mobile app to Lemmy. I shared this with some of the admins behind this RBlind instance, but as they were enthused to only recently find out (for some being their go to Reddit app for years), I figured I’d cross post the news here as well.

They also expressed hope that the new “Sync For Lemmy” client will include better screen reader labels for the mobile interface, so I’d encourage you to give your feedback and recommendations to the developer, Ljdawson @ljdawson@lemmy.world , over on the threads he’s opened to solicit feedback:

Or subscribe to its official Lemmy community (moderated by developer) for future updates:

For more details or examples of public reception, check out these posts:

Hopefully this will be a watershed moment for development of more accessible mobile apps for Lemmy and other ActivityPup projects, facilitating a domino or network effect in adoption of federated social platforms. It looks like other developers are already testing new iOS apps for Lemmy as well.

Hello folks, I’m a sighted developer, but still use text-to-speech quite a bit. I’m looking forward to learning more tips and tricks on using accessibility features and assistive technologies from others here on rblind. Cheers!
