Wow you’re right! The game in the screenshot is a Flash game, probably inspired by or a knock off of Scorched Earth :)
When we weren’t on the (Oregon) trail, it was a lot of the incredible machine and number/word munchers.

Line Rider in my high school days. Before then, lots of bonus dot com games. Withholding the URL because it’s nothing like it used to be. Now I guess it’s a gambling thing. Back in like 2000 it had a ton of great flash games.
