Building will be complete in 2026, but external decorative work will continue until 2034

I wish it would never finish, the fact that it is unfinished is an aspect of it that I very much enjoy

But I guess it will be a nice celebration when it happens

I love architecture but this place is soooo fuckin ugly to me. I found absolutely no redeeming features, it’s just gaudy (hehe, Gaudi) and hideous.

I watched a documentary on it and the host was gushing about how a lot of it is supposed to mimic nature and I have to wonder what world he was living in because it looks alien as hell

When I visited Barcelona (about 10 years ago) I didn’t want to bother with a tourist trap church, but my wife insisted we go. I could not have been more wrong. The arches and buttresses inside are amazing, the facades are intricate and fascinating, and the light coming through the stained glass was nigh-psychedelic.

Barcelona is an amazing city and it’s very easy to fill up a vacation with other activities - but I highly recommend spending at least half a day at La Sagrada Familia
