IMO moderation tools should come way sooner. It’s one of the reasons people on Reddit were using 3PA.
Eh, I kind of disagree. So far at least, there hasn’t been a need until trolls show up. Lemmy and kbin need engagement and content, which apps will help immensely. I’m using both of them, but not as much as I used reddit because they aren’t very mobile friendly at the moment for me.
Good moderation tools will take time to build. We need them before the trolls arrive. Ideally, Lemmy and Kbin should try reaching out to the larger mods of Reddit to get an understanding of what tools are needed/useful. That way those tools can get on the roadmap and start being created.
This is the way.
Get some Mods on board who are leaving reddit because they cant use the 3d Party app for that anymore.
They will have a good understanding of what they need.
Then get some Input from the rest of the fedivers and how they handle moderation. Cause there is still a lot work to be done.
And read the Idears of the Moderation Team of beehaw - they had to defederat some bigger instances and put together idears, cant find the link at the moment. maybe somebody safed it ? i wll serach it up later.
Wow this is way sooner than I expected! I didn’t think the private beta would be ready until mid-late July. Very exciting!

Will it support linux phones? The website works well, but I would prefer an app
Very excited for this, I’ve been using the chrome app and it just feels too clunky at times, a proper app is needed.

I dont expect it in the beginnig, but will you make use of kbins Microblog features and some kind of crossplatfrom-functions wiht Mastodon/Calckey/Misskey/Pixelfed/Peertube?I’m a layman on software development but I wonder a few things.
I’d imagine web scraping will be a big challenge but it’s not mentioned in the roadmap. Hell, kbin is planning thirdparty APIs, iirc, so switching from scraping is going to happen at some point, and there’s no strategy mentioned on this, neither.
Additionally there should be many architectural questions but they’re again not in the roadmap.
What kind of questions would you like to see answered in the roadmap? I’ll admit it’s barebone, as I’m balancing development with planning.
There’s a kbin PR adding an API. We’re following that closely. Right now we’re making our in-house version using scrapping, to unblock us in terms of running the private beta.
Engineering wise, we’re 2 actively working and have 1 more joining us.
