Alcohol abuse is rampant in the area I live. So much bad comes of it. Broken homes, deaths, violence… it’s just bad. Society as a whole needs things like alcoholic drinks to lighten the mood, help folks relax or party. I don’t understand why alternatives that are safer (like marijuana) aren’t legal and distributed in bars the way alcohol is. A bar full of people who just had a cannabis drink would be just as fun as one that had alcoholic drinks and would be less harmful to society. No need to ban alcohol, but with alternatives in place less people would go to it.
Nixon official: real reason for the drug war was to criminalize black people and hippies

At least, in New York State, where marijuana is legal recreationally, cannabis cannot be sold in bars, because mixing the two amplifies the effects of alcohol, and the state is worried that people will have trouble regulating their alcohol intake as a result, which, in end of itself, could become dangerous. I see some merit in this argument, to be honest.
on the other hand, it’s perfectly happy to license cannabis bars/lounges.
“This dangerous drinking pattern means 8 or more drinks for women and 10 or more drinks for men on one occasion,” the institute noted on its website.
It doesn’t matter if alcohol tolerance is actually a thing or not, 8-10+ drinks means you’re non-functional.
Not enough people understand that you pretty much always get the same amount of impairment, you just don’t feel it the more you drink. I once had the dumbest argument in my life with someone about drink driving because “some people can handle it better” lmao.
