    Good.

If you own a device you should be able to install software of your choice.

Sideloading is super helpful and feels necessary to having useful, open technology. I’m glad Japan is introducing laws to require it and other countries should too.

I was bummed seeing the next iPhone release to allow other stores / side loading only in Europe. This looks like this will be even better, excited to see what comes from it. I’d never swap to an iPhone mainly because their locking to safari / it’s web engine and hopefully this won’t be an issue afterwards.

Unplug microwave. Open door of Microwave. Insert phone. Your cell signal will probably be lost. If not, (due to the missing sixth wall), build a curtain of aluminum foil to close-off the sixth wall. Poke a small hole for looking-through. Use USB-OTG keyboard/mouse.

Even some glass windows can turn your house into a Faraday cage. Be careful with building material selection, unless you want no cell signal.

Usually aluminium is just used for the studs.

However, each company also prevents third-party app providers from accepting user payments through any payment platform other than those provided by Apple or Google.

Apple CEO Tim Cook cites privacy and security as two reasons while Apple doesn’t allow app downloads outside of the iOS App Store.

Apple is really jumping all over the “privacy” train lately (when it’s profitable for them). Real commendable stuff really, like how they’re blocking third party cookies and tracking (making them the only one with your data and giving them an edge over competitors in the ad business).

Seriously though, I don’t get how this hasn’t been shut down in the EU, should be argued that closed ecosystems break all kinds of competition laws.
