I made this for when tears of the kingdom was first talked about, before it had a title! I posted this on the lemmy.ml community but I saw someone here used a gif and it showed? Because this gif gets BUTCHERED on there.

:o did it? It works in the post, but I don’t see it in the thumbnail is the issue. 'Cause there’s the other post here that has working tenor gif link so hmmm… But me figuring out markup for images works means I can at least display good clean copies in the body of the post.
@misnina @ianoji@crystals.rest I actually have a small worry about the crystals rest server because some icons have become sporadic, like whatever is “crystal yellow”
Okay so I can’t reply to your post from sbfa.social for some reason. Mastodon - Lemmy connection can get a little tricky. The yellow crystal icon is hosted off-site. If it takes a moment to load, that might me because I redirected a url to where it’s hosted to have a shorter path. If it continues I may move them back to the original url.
So, at home, the yellow crystal works fine. At work, it may be the work firewall not liking too many calls to new servers from a web page.
And, at home, I can confirm the thumbnail behavior – I click to expand, it’s static… but the static image can be clicked to see the animation. It leaves the thread page and goes to the animated gif all on its lonesome.
Hmm! Different depending on limited networks…That’s something I will have to look into. I think it might be possible to upload the images as in on this server itself instead of any third party place, but I need to look into how to do it properly.
Yeah, that’s unfortunately a lemmy thing. I did ask on github why it does this, and it’s so no one opens large file or has large animations playing in the thumbnail for people with low internet, and I asked if there could be an exception for files under a certain size since pixel art is generally very very small files. They never responded… But! Because something’s happening with how Oskai linked to a gif offsite and it did somehow work that way, there’s got to be a file formatting thing that allows this.
More things to investigate, haha.

This one was made in a manic 12 hour haze, heh. I’m not sure the actual hours worked on it because back then I didn’t time myself, but it was done in about a 12 hour timeframe.
