I built two Ferris Sweeps today, one for home, and one for the office. I originally intended to build one, but after I tested the first, I immediately decided I wanted to also use this at work.
I wasn’t able to figure out how to align the switches better, so the grid is pretty bad looking. It doesn’t impact my typing at all, so I’ve left it alone.
I think next time, I’ll want some kind of case for it, I’m currently using cardboard, and the whole thing is kinda janky looking.
It looks like your reset buttons are escaping. I really want to see the cardboard case. Embrace the jankyness!
It’s just a piece of cardboard that I taped it to. I’ve since replaced the floral washi tape with something more neutral hahaha.
I also have two Ferris sweeps. My error was that I bought 3 pin switched, which wont sit right in place without a case. 5 pin switches(those with the 2 extra plastic pins at the bottom), will sit perfectly fine and straight without a case. So if you have 3 pin switches, that could be the problem with the “bad looking grid”. I currently have a silent one with Gazzew Bobas and a loud one with Kaihl Owls.
I actually had originally intended to use the 5 pin switches, but the PCB I ordered only had holes for 3 pin. Fortunately, I had extras. I guess I should’ve used a case?
Yes, propably. Or i think something like this would work fine as well: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5192069
