Everytime I see a video about Framework the more I’m tempted to buy one of their laptops, seems like a great company
I just wish they accepted P.O.s / worked with popular public sector resellers. I’m intending on buying these for our school district at some point for student programs
My Surface Laptop 4 is too new/great to swap out, but at some point I definitely want to hop on a SKU with a DGPU
I’m planning on selling my MacBook and making the switch as soon as the AMD version is available. I’m excited to be able to support a company that values repairable hardware.
If they assemble and then completely disassemble the DIY version of the laptop why does it cost less to buy if it requires extra labour?
I wondered the same. I imagine when they finish designing the process it will actually be cheaper to manufacture.
This makes a lot of sense. Seems like they’re putting the cart before the horse here, but its probably something something “we wanted to build the culture/experience before we built the processes”
I believe they don’t do it for ALL of their laptop but more on a percentage to understand if all is working properly maybe?
As much as I like the philosophy of a user serviceable laptop. I feel like Framework will end up in the same situation as Fairphone by not being able to compete with much larger manufacturers in volume and thus being less able to scale up
