    Not just tiktok, the bill allows the executive to ban any “20%+ foreign owned”, or any company they deem foreign controlled.

    Which means any platform that doesn’t toe the state department line.

    I’m old enough to remember people getting driven out of media for not supporting the war in Iraq. I’m certain this purge of media that doesn’t toe the line is a response to the organized opposition to US actions in Israel and Ukraine.

    Reddit will never be targeted, but I could see them apply this to Lemmy if it ever took off and they couldn’t control the narrative.
