    What’s weird is all the Reddit-alikes use custom code. Reddit code was open source until 2017.

      Lemmy developers decided to have different features (yet similar to Reddit) so they could not use the source code from Reddit. Maybe they have reused part of the code ?
      Many feature here are superior to Reddit if you ask me. Unfortunately the recent days are showing that some do not scale well.

    Them disabling downvotes gave me a bad feeling and I’m glad I registered elsewhere.

    IMO this is like someone refusing to sleep with you because you look like their ex. I fully support their right to do that, but I still think it’s kind of stupid and not really fair to the other person.
