Congrats on another step! Tiling has become my favorite feature of pop os, and (for me) the key thing that separates it from other distros. Moving a whole stack at once is something I’ve been wanting, so I’m glad to see that as one of the new features!

Thanks for these updates. Everytime there’s news about COSMIC’s progress we can see it making strides. Tiling is something that’s become my go-to feature while working. It’s why I stay on Pop!

This is all really exciting! Can’t wait for this to be released. The settings page is coming along nicely too.

This looks really good. I dont use tiling enough on pop. Did system76 ever release the results of their user survey? I know they planned on using the results to guide development priorities. I am assuming tiling was a popular request. It wouldn’t have been my first choice, but it looks good.

I’m mostly excited about the rapid progress of cosmic. I am looking forward to its release.

    The tiling redesign looks interesting.

My tiling needs are very, very, modest, so I’m mostly happy with the new built-in one in KDE and never really took the time to learn Pop OS tiling. Seems like I’ll have to give it another go when Cosmic is released for more general testing.

These changes look great! I totally agree with the decision to make the tiling non-modal. I can’t wait to try out the alpha!

It’s taking some effort to get used to after years of using the extension, but the design makes sense. Love the stacks icon. Will there eventually be a shortcut to move a whole stack with keyboard?

Sorry to bother, but quick question. If someone wants to write an application with COSMIC’s look, uses libcosmic as opposed to iced?

Yes, to have integration with cosmic themes, widgets and tech; you must use libcosmic. There’s also a potential opportunity to use Slint as they’re making a COSMIC theme.

Not having a separate mode seems like a good idea. Now I wish there is an easy way to retain relative positions and sizes of applications on a specific virtual desktop. Great work team, looking forward to more cosmic!

This looks great! Is there some issue tracker to follow, or is it too early for that? I’m personally really interested in the ‘Remember layout from previous session/screen setup’ feature, but I realize that might be something for later :)

Can we keep the Hot Corner feature in the new DE? Please? I use it to switch between open windows on a regular. Its the only way I switch between open windows. lol Its one of the main reasons I use Gnome. Please Please Please include it.

I have been playing with the pre-alpha for months and was recently pleasantly surprised by the new Shift + Super + Arrows for moving windows. Way more intuitive experience and looks good too! Haven’t tried with the new stacking yet, but since it is my favorite feature for my laptop, I’m very excited to play with it.
