    Wordle 977 3/6

    ⬛🟩⬛⬛⬛

    ⬛🟩⬛⬛⬛

    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Every time I get an ad I use the same first word >!fucks!< It’s a guess with 0% chance of success, but I hope my distaste is recorded somewhere in their system. Over the last year I have only not used it once. Every now and then it gives me a good clue. This time it left me saying “no they didn’t finally start with”, only to find they didn’t, and I got a pretty lucky 3rd guess.

      • Reddit-style spoiler tags don’t work here, and Lemmy-style spoilers aren’t guaranteed to work either. No harm, no foul, though.

      • I use ad blocking web browsers for security reasons, and you should too. I recommend Librewolf on Windows and Bromite on Android. I’ve never seen an ad on NYT Wordle.

      • Since you ought to be blocking all ads, you can use a better starting word than FUCKS. I recommend SHITE; it’s actually pretty good.

Very interesting, sync is doing some front end work for me, as it shows up in spoiler text format.

Fucks actually works to eliminate a bunch of possibilities for me, I’ve only noticed my average attempts per word go down by about .5 in the last year, I seldom get 2’s any more (only a handful of my 30 have come in the last year), but 3’s aren’t uncommon. And my 98% success rate hasn’t taken a hit, so I’m happy!

Also there’s a long history of fucks now showing up from a particular user in their database, and I’d hate to change it now. The U eliminates all q words, the s is a great spot for the rare plural, c is commonly used first in efficient solving algorithms, and k and f when they hit tend to have very different letters that they appear with.

If I want to get rid of ads I’ll toss money at the problem, I respect journalism and content creators (not saying those who don’t send them money, or use ad blockers don’t, but money speaks louder than actions) and if the ads become overwhelming and the content isn’t worth the money, I simply move on.
