“May put US and EU lives at risk”?!

    What an absolutely shit headline:

    1. Trump literally encouraged a war in Europe. There is 0 room for “may” in that. A war in Europe will 100% end up with lost European lives and by encouraging one he absolutely and undeniably DID put US and EU lives at risk.
    2. NATO chief didn’t actually say that. He said that this encouragement “puts American and European soldiers at increased risk.” He wasn’t half-assing a risk assessment he was definitive and correct.

Any suggestion that allies will not defend each other undermines all of our security, including that of the US, and puts American and European soldiers at increased risk. I expect that regardless of who wins the presidential election, the US will remain a strong and committed Nato ally.

The white house shared a similar sentiment:

Encouraging invasions of our closest allies by murderous regimes is appalling and unhinged – and it endangers American national security, global stability and our economy at home.

    1. The word “may” is found nowhere in the article.

This headline disingenuously obscures the reality of the situation, the very serious fact that Trump called for a war in Europe and the actual levelheaded and honest responses from those in relevant power to such an absurd desire.

Of course they do. What he says emboldens Putin and others. Not acceptable for a United States official or NATO member.
