Sometimes people say ska has the same feeling as young kids on a sugar rush (usually referring to second- or third-wave bands). Then I think about OG songs like this, which have that jumpy back-beat but still manage to be relaxed and emotional.
I heard a time before when playing some ska in my sound system, somebody said: “why are you playing march songs? (Ska) Seems like a band or a military march…” (in fact we can accept that ska has march songs reminiscences because of the musical education of their pioneers, and we still like it) is impossible that a music genre like to the majority of the people of the earth, so somebody will find a reason to not like ska, but we are still hearing and dancing it.
Hah, great story. I think it’s the horns that make ska sound like a marching band.
