    [Judge] MacLeod also said that while journalistic sources are protected under the Canada Evidence Act, that protection is not absolute and has to be weighed against the public interest in the administration of justice.

    Does anybody care to explain why in this case compelling CBC to betray their assurances of confidentiality is in the public interest?

      I have no idea… It wasn’t mentioned in the article, but then again, if they included the opposing argument I suppose they couldn’t put an article out on how this is terrible for journalism
