A reminder that when America faught the Nazis during WW2 we locked up hundreds of thousands of American citizens in full violation of their “God given” rights just because their parents were born in Japan.

Oh, also, we were an apartheid state. And not just in the southern Jim Crow states.

What’s happening now IS different though. It’s just strong enough now that enough white people are getting worried.

  • If I had a hindu swastika outside a temple and wanted “do a modern redesign” I’d definitely avoid rotating it by 45 degrees, removing the inner circles, and choosing a red, black, and white color pallet.

If I happen to do that by mistake. I’d definitely absolutely understand when someone pointed out that my “modern design” just suspiciously made it look MORE like a Nazi symbol. Which would clearly be the opposite intention behind a symbol that already has a similar look.

Point being. If we have imagery or symbols from the past that are similar to a white supremacist genocidal state and we were doing a “redesign” there is no possible way a well intention person could accidentally make it “more Nazi looking”.

It’s on purpose. It’s not gonna help your fox news parents. True. But anyone with a brain can understand what is being done here.

  • Researcher broke a test tube. Seems like the standard protocols were followed afterwards, they were isolated and contracted the disease. For extra caution all individuals that made contact with them since have been placed in isolation to avoid spreading the disease.

It’s times like this that I actually have to think “well, fuck, I’m glad it was Russia.” If this was the US we might have some person screaming about a “plague party” and inviting all their friends to help spread it.

  • Might want to read up on the history of how America became a nation of mostly white European people to begin with.

I also assume you meant “be an apologist for”. Not “I’m not going to apologize for”.

Still, the “past bad thing” was so much worse than “current bad thing” is not helpful. It’s not at all helpful; and is literally used by the perpetrators of the current crimes to justify their actions through a false sense of moral superiority. “The most moral military” loves to do this all the time. Don’t do it for them.

There is no reason to “hand it to” the IDF or the US empire while describing the crimes of Japan. You can get a point across without doing that.

Nuremberg was a failure. 180 convictions. To put that in perspective, over the course of the war, 8000 - 9000 Germans served in Aushuwitz alone. In total about 25% of those that served as Nazis during WW2 died in combat. That’s at least 6000 Nazis that experienced and participated in first hand, the systematic and industrial execution of innocent people on a mass scale. They released the gas, they pushed them in, they shot those that resisted, and they showed up again the next day to do it again. And that’s a single camp.

    180 convictions.

Say what you will about Stalin. But I’m starting to think the story about him “joking” about executing every single German officer (50-100k) was actually the right idea. The world today would have been better for it.

  • First, I don’t agree with the comment you replied to. I don’t think they “aren’t working class” But I think they have a point; that they defined badly.

There is a difference between a generation that has been the majority voting block for decades is targeted and offered concessions by the ruling class to maintain their loyalty; and people with disabilities that we acknowledge as a society we want to take care of.

I do agree that when “generations” are the target of conflict in order to avoid mentioning class that that is unhelpful. But, it’s not “generational reductionisms” to understand why a generation of the working class (a specific race and gender as well) has been offered concessions from the ruling class.

It’s a massive reason for why the “trans panic” or “immigrant panic” worked with boomers. They were taken care of. They don’t understand why their children are having such a hard time. It can’t be the system that gave them everything. It can’t be that they were “given everything” they worked hard.

It must be the socialist and woke shit that is the problem.

It’s ok to understand class conflict and intersectionality in the context of how a generation forms it’s ideas that direct their political support.

When we are talking about “boomers” we are talking about this major disconnection in material conditions they grew up with when compared to the results of neolib and neocon policies long after they “made it”. Well, at least I am. And I think the term “boomer” is better vocabulary for explaining that “without explaining that”.

I don’t think they were talking about “senior care” in the way we’d discuss"care for those with disabilities". I think they just have a horrible understanding of “class” and how much a specific generation of working class people have been conditioned into a way of thinking due to the concessions they have been given.

  • The average American voter usually votes off vibes they get from the one or two direct exposures to candidates one or two weeks before an election.

And that’s ONLY in the 5-10 states in the US that actually have campaign ads running because that state is actually close enough to have a chance of being contested.

40-45 of the states in each presidential election are essentially fueling a politics of indifference.

That feeling of indifference disappears when the material effects of politics actually impact people’s lives. People suddenly care when they start realizing that all that stupid political shit is making their lives worse.

The average voter is not spending each day listening to the news, listening to political discourse, you are “weird” for even commenting about politics. You and I are weird. We look at politics and care about the impact it has on the lives of others and that don’t impact us directly. We are weird.

Why do you think suddenly Trump has lost popularity with 40% of the people that once supported him? If you’re going to criticize their stupidity; you need to acknowledge their newfound “intelligence”.

Sure, I think it should be 100%. But you’re acting like it’s 0%.

  • Despite all the replies, people, in general, are smarter than this. Especially when they are being faced with real material problems like they are now. They don’t care about some imaginary threat of immigrants or trans children playing sports when they can’t afford to drive to the grocery store.

There will be tons of people still voting for Republicans. But, on average, this country is not that stupid. This midterms are going to be such a blowout, that my only worry is that the Trump administrations only defense will be to say they were ridged and send in the national guard. That’s how much they’re about to get smoked.

My hatred of taking a shower is the same hatred I have for leaving the shower. That’s it? I just don’t like that little short period in-between? I just rationalize other reasons? Fuck me.

Why do I get irritated when someone points out the weight my clothes have on my body?

Wait, I might be onto something. When I need to take a shower. I don’t tell myself to take a shower over and over. I just notice the weight of my clothes on my body and go take a shower to relieve that frustration.
