Just for testing purposes, have you removed every device except the root device and sys/dev/tmp from fstab? I know Linux can get a bit upset when a NTFS filesysyem is marked as needing chkdsk’d and might be blocking other disks from mounting.

If you’re worried about Steam, you can always use the flatpak version of Steam. It runs it in a sandbox, so it doesn’t have complete access to all your files, although it can still do a bit of telemetry (which is unavoidable really, as you need to download files from Steam’s servers).

If it’s the kind of thing you’re interested in, I think a number of furry streamers on Twitch appreciate someone taking highlights and editing them down into shorts/highlight reels. Get permission first and don’t bother them too much though, ofc.

Imo, a lot of the tools here have a high security requirement. Either because they handle personal/private information and/or are exposed to the public internet. AI use is a red flag to me that the developer hasn’t properly considered all the security implications of their product.
