This situation is a good example of how memes and screenshots make news extra ragey and divisive.

There’s definitely more we should be doing to notify people when a post is deleted. Yes. It hasn’t been super high priority as the people who get their posts deleted tend to be a pain in the ass.

I don’t think many communities have enough activity to be able to automatically detect stress levels based on the mod log. That’d be a good problem to have, it means we’re busy!

If you get banned from a lemmy.ml community don’t be concerned, it’s a rite of passage.

We often judge the decisions people made back then pretty harshly (colonialism, etc). But life was a lot harder then, it was a really tough world. Big big problems everywhere and often choosing the best of bad options.

In PieFed, when you block someone they don’t see your posts or comments. So they can’t vote on it either.

The best I can do for you @iloveDigit@piefed.social is make it so that votes from blocked people on Lemmy (which does show your posts to people you blocked) are not accepted. Making votes public so you can go down the rabbit hole of policing the votes on everything is not going to happen.

Please remember that we are building PieFed at significant personal cost and giving it away for the good of everyone. That comes with limitations on how much time we can put into it and how many people we can satisfy. There just isn’t time to build every possible feature and some features would negate the value and purpose of other features.

We’re doing our best here but if you don’t like it you have other places you can go.

Yes that is the crucial difference. Without followers determining your reach, every post earns it’s upvotes on an equal footing with the others, regardless of author.

It’s a much better system.

Follower-based networks like Mastodon and Twitter inevitably end up with a handful of people dominating the space because their posts get boosted which gets them more followers which gets them more boosts etc in a spiraling way. This attracts narcissists and drama queens.

We have decades of practice distinguishing between NSFW and SFW and it’s still not fully resolved so this could take a while.

Instead of using a checkbox I considered having a slider so people could choose various values in between no and yes. But that would have been confusing…

I think it’ll come down to whatever the mods in each community want and there will be significant variation to that.

IMO your process does not reach the threshold of AI Generated because you’re just using it as a short-cut for some of the steps and you still have your hands on the wheel. Unlike this which was probably just someone prompting “gimme a cute hamster with a helmet”.
