Most games follow rules for good reasons. I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with the story, but I’m bombarded with four irrelevant or cartoony things in a row when the tone hasn’t earned it. Final Fantasy VII wasn’t perfect but at least it knew how to set a tone and momentum before throwing you into silly, cuttable minigames.
I mentioned ICE at least twice and US slavery and prisons at least three times when I told people here I am not giving the US special treatment. But people here are not making good faith arguments. I just got banned from !china@lemmy.ml too.
Also I wasn’t complaining about random posts, but about the propaganda in the article about the BBC claiming British people are terrible liars and that Chinese people aren’t, and that they “don’t do things for censorship reasons”.
I don’t know, people in the US-- even many people who consider themselves patriots-- are just fine shit-talking the US, shit-talking capitalism, shit-talking the political party system, shit-talking prison slavery and Guantanamo Bay. Every time I try to talk about Chinese censorship and injustices on that community though, they deny them or pretend I didn’t say anything.
Nationalism is absolutely stupid and everyone needs to stop doing it.
Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize that allegedly succeeding against poverty makes up for the Muslim genocide or censoring free speech by banning Animal Crossing because someone said “Free Hong Kong”, and everything in between. : /
You people are not just hopeless, you’re evil. Please stop being as bad as r/conservative.
I’m not a programmer, but I used to be a lowly hobbyist web designer. I wanted to run a video game message board, so I learned web design. My skills lie in organization, attention to detail, and understanding the consumer/viewer experience and their needs. I’m also pretty creative and have decent artistic skills.
I’m not super good at sticking with any one thing though, so after maybe four years I stopped and moved on. Good times though ^^
Animal Crossing is not banned in Hong Kong, but rather in mainland China.
Yeah, I know. I didn’t say it was banned in Hong Kong, friend.
Apparently because the people involved at the Hong Kong’s side used a form of ‘dehumanizing’ language against the mainland people, what that means I do not know.
Yeah, in saner countries in the world we don’t ban entire products or services just because unrelated people post controversial messages on them. : /
Remember that time China banned Winnie the Pooh nation-wide, or that time China banned Animal Crossing nation-wide because someone said “free Hong Kong” on it? How about the fact that China won’t allow Nintendo consoles in its country because it needs to control every message from every piece of media going into the country? But no, let’s just downplay censorship in China and claim everyone else is a politically-motivated liar. That’s cool.
I’m not anti-China. I’m anti-lies. Get your stuff together.
Are you serious? I’m anti-US in a lot of ways too. If China does something bad, they do something bad. Is Lemmy really going to be the kind of place where we pretend China does no wrong, and where we completely ignore their atrocious violations of human rights? Are you going to delete my posts/comments for mentioning Hong Kong or Tibet too? I’m going to complain about the US as well, but last time I checked we didn’t ban Animal Crossing nation-wide because someone said “free Hong Kong” on it.
I disagree with “Sonic Mania ain’t all that good”-- it’s a very good game. But I agree that it’s not the gold standard Sonic fans should accept, nor is it what the future of Sonic should be.
I feel like half of Sonic fans are genwunners for the Genesis to Dreamcast era, and the other half just accept whatever they’re given because they’re children. Therefore it should be up to SEGA to understand what Sonic should be, and how it can please both the more dignified part of its audience as well as the more-easily-pleased part. The problem is SEGA is a bad company with bad leadership. They’re being asked to think in order to make fans happy, but all they really want to do is sell relatively-cheaply-made games made-by-committee.
Sonic’s never going to actually be good until they get some creative passion leading the way. Until then you have to remember that Shadow the Hedgehog was a Halo rip-off and werehog Sonic was a shameless God of War ripoff. Sonic devs are passionless; but maybe in the future that will change.
I didn’t leave Reddit to face bad faith arguments like this. The US has its major injustices, but it doesn’t round up political disagreers and Muslims and send them to re-education camps where they torture and murder them and harvest their organs. The US does really badly mistreat and enslave prisoners, and it does some really bad things at the ICE, but it sure as heck isn’t comparable to what China does.
But this isn’t a contest between the US and China. Injustice is injustice and I’m not going to pretend it doesn’t happen-- regardless of what country we are talking about.
I’m not sure what you mean, but there is hardly a sane person in the US that trusts over half the politicians in the US. Corruption is corruption and I’m not trying to make it a contest. Nobody needs to be overly positive about either the US or China-- both are awful right now. China’s scarier though.
There is a huge difference between Sonic Mania and a ROM hack, but whatevs.
