  • You’ve been a teenager who can’t vote and also someone who went to the mall in the past with a same sex partner and got dirty looks from older conservatives within the last few months. You live in a city with rolling blackouts in America.

As a teenager below voting age you know groceries are a luxury now compared to the past. Everything leads back to third party voting with you, again a teenager below voting age who went to the mall with someone you were dating as a social activity.

You are really bad at trolling.

  • Sure. Like if you enjoy doing that stuff it would be totally worth it I’m sure.

There is a particular kind of person who prefers setup and config to doing anything with a computer, and it’s hard to hide my disdain for that sometimes but that doesn’t make it wrong. It also doesn’t mean I’m doing anything with a computer. We’re biased towards ourselves, I get that.

Like, we just put a dog down so I was thinking about my own mortality and how much time I have in life. It’s not a lot, and the idea of making sure an email address is functioning today sounds like hell.

I’m leaving the original statement up because I don’t think enough people walk back hasty statements online.

  • My grandpa was always really interested in whatever I had going on, especially when I didn’t think it was worth celebrating. We spent a lot of time golfing together when I was a kid and he taught me a lot about staying calm and looking at me today vs yesterday instead of me vs where I wish I was.

Everybody we ran into seemed to really like being around him. We used to play with a lot of people we rolled up to on the golf course. I try my best to be someone people are happy to see; like they were for him.

I miss him but I carry so much of him inside I feel like I can still hear what he would say. I hope I can be as important to someone as he was to me.

  • See you took what I wrote really literally. Thanks this is helpful. What I meant was saying “how’s it going”, but you took it as I would literally ask “how’s your day going”. Like, I would always use quotes to indicate a specific word usage but you have no way of knowing that.

Also I’d never use the same kind of language or approach to anyone I knew personally. Everyone needs something different. There isn’t a formula to get it right without listening and knowing. How are you doing is how are you feeling where I come from btw. How’s it going is hi. How’s your day is “how’s today no details”.

  • There’s a lot of spectrum concentrated here. I’m on the adhd end and my thinking tends towards connections, allegory, and metaphor and I have a real hard time filtering shit down to something people who think extremely literally will like to read.

For me, everything is connected and anything could be a stand in for anything else. Not the case for a lot of people here.

Someone told me not to ask strangers how their day was (like in the real world) if I didn’t really want to know (like that someone’s dad died) and I just had to put my phone down for the rest of the morning. It’s great experience for learning how to talk to others though overall.
