Yeah, not a fan of that design trend.
I once had to explain to my mum how to call a contact in this UI:
Without just tapping it myself, I would’ve pretty much not been able to explain, nor do I believe that she’ll be able to figure it out next time on her own.

You have to tap the phone icon to the left.
This is supposed to be read tongue in cheek, right?
I really like it, I’m happy they’re taking this approach.
Also nice to see they mentioned elementary among the people they’re taking inspiration.
This hurts my soul. What I appreciate about GNOME’s visuals is that it looks clean and modern but still tactile and layered. Looks like they’re trying to throw that out the window and justify it by pointing at others who’ve done it.
I love GNOME, but this looks awful by comparison.
I wish they would make them not so god damn giant…
