It’s hard to understand what this is.

since it’s inception a few years back the goal of the project shifted dramatically from just a note taking app with p2p sync, to a complex collaboration environment with entities such as objects, relations, sets etc, intended to be used for management, wikis, product creation, file storage and whatever else, and so the website is now a little bit of a mix of both

      No kidding.

Anytype is a next generation software that breaks down barriers between applications, gives back privacy and data ownership to users.

That’s the first thing you see when you land on the page and it’s as vague as it gets. Like, what does “breaking down barriers between applications” mean? What are the applications? What are these supposed barriers between them? Thanks to OP’s comment below, have an actual idea what this is, but the page seems to be satisfied with the description “Anytype is next generation software”. Which can be literally anything.

“We are going to open source Anytype with public release”

Why not now? I don’t know about anyone else but I’m just assuming you have something to hide.

they are currently in alpha, bc they want the final product to be very good, that’s how closed testing works…

i’ve been part of the testing group for some time, and there are rapid improvements based on user feedback

I see, so it’s all a Big Secret and we should just trust.

        Thanks, but no thanks.

nobody is asking you to trust or forcing you to use it

if you’d like, you can wait for a public release some time next year or apply to be beta tester now
