Have no idea about screen sharing - but in my experience it has been wonderfully easy to install PipeWire and have it be a drop-in replacement for Pulseaudio. Here are the instructions for Void Linux: https://docs.voidlinux.org/config/media/pipewire.html

Have not found a reason to go back to straight pulse.

Use it for laptop audio and Bluetooth audio. Pavucontrol, bluetoothctl.

The question isn’t very clear, might want to reframe the question by editing.

web rtc, zoom, slack and so on?

Don’t they all run in the Browser? Firefox dropped alsa support for official builds quite some time ago, I don’t know about chrome though.

If you can set up some test system you could just try. Have a look at the documentation for the configuration and just comment everything out you don’t need. It looks like you can just load the modules you actually need. But even if it would require to use the audio part you should still be able to use alsa directly. (Just not the device pipewire uses internally)

If you get any further I would be interested to read your finings since I have the opposite use case (pulseaudio drop-in replacement but no screen sharing) and it might help me configure that too :)
