    Given the polarization on lemmy some people might unjustly downvote your post for ideological reasons. So I hereby share another video on myths surrounding the soviet union to balance it out.

    I will check your video when I have time and (maybe) write my impressions.

    Edit: I had time to check it out and it was alright. This is more focused on Putin’s Russia than the Soviet Union. The term “myth” is inaccurate. This tells us more how the past can be differently interpreted and how narratives as social constructions are a source of power.

    She mentions the Soviet Union and the German Reich being “allies” which is entirely false. It takes more than an aggression pact to form alliances. And this strenuous debate on who’s the hero of the war, WW2 was a collective effort; if the USSR didn’t join the war then the allies would’ve lost but if the USSR was facing Germany alone it wouldn’t have stood a chance. There’s nothing wrong in sharing the victory.
